About Us

History of St. Peregrine Kiddie School of Novaliches

The school was established last February 5, 2004 when a couple(Mr. Isagani B. Terso and Mrs. Elsa H. Terso) foresaw the need of the community for quality education. Their answer was to establish a school. They were perfect for the job, a couple who is God-fearing and who has a strong determination to pursue the talent that God has given them.

The school was named after Saint Peregrine, a cancer survivor and saint. He was a Servite friar who lived in the latter part of the 13th century in Forli, a small city in Northern Italy.

His life was remarkable chiefly for two reasons, as extraordinary conversion which occurred in his youth and a miraculous cure from cancer later in life. As a young man, he was a wild, unruly person, deeply involved in violent political activities. One day, he encountered a saintly monk, named Philip Benizi, a member of the recently founded Order of Servant of Mary (Servites). He heckled the priest while he was preaching and, finally with the bravado of an impetuous youth, he attacked and beat him with vicious blows. The holy man made no attempt to defend himself. He bore the insults and blows with such

meekness and patience. Seeing thus, Peregrine was profoundly moved and later returned to apologize. This was the beginning of a great conversion in his life. Eventually, he joined the Order of Servites, and in the years that followed, achieved great heights of sanctity.

The other unusual event in Saint Peregrine’s life was his own miraculous cure from cancer. He had contracted cancer of the bone in his leg, and on the very eve of the day when the leg was to be amputated, the remarkable cure took place. In the quiet of the night, the Saint dragged himself to a room to pray. As he prayed before a crucifix, he fell asleep and dreamt that the hand of Christ detached itself from the cross and gently touched the cancerous leg. In an instant, the leg was healed, without the slightest trace of cancer remaining. For this reason, Saint Peregrine’s intercession has been sought over the years by countless cancer victims. Many extraordinary attestments of cure from the disease have been recorded. Thousands have experienced consolation and an increase in resignation to God’s will.

Philosophy

To provide the children with the various ways in which they may discover and use their natural endowments, so that they may live and make a living to the best advantage to themselves and to the society.

Goals

  • To help the child improve his personal qualities, to the extent that he will become friendly, courteous, and trustworthy.

  • To develop the child’s ability to express himself effectively and confidently in front of many people.

  • To assist the child in forming the right habits of work conduct and to help him develop a high level and an ideal behaviour of living.

  • To help the child realize the importance of a strong and healthy body.

  • To maintain close relationship with parents, in order for a child to be guided by being given certain information related to his activities both in school and at home.

  • To develop respect for other people and nurture one’s insights in ethical values and principles so that he can live and work harmoniously and cooperatively with others.

  • To assist the child’s growth, to develop in him his ability to think rationally, to read and listen with understanding.

  • To provide a learning environment that will promote the proper growth and development of the child

  • To give concern for the child’s well-being because he is a special person

  • To make the child happy through physical, social, emotional, and intellectual adjustment, and aesthetic appreciation for a hopeful future.
